Astitwa: Ek Roop Kai Pehchaan Celebrates the Multidimensional Spirit of Womanhood in Kolkata

Kolkata – Woman Times, in collaboration with Mamta Sumit Binani Foundation, CK Birla Hospitals CMRI, and Sister Nivedita University, successfully hosted the powerful and emotionally resonant event “Astitwa: Ek Roop Kai Pehchaan” at The HHI, Kolkata. The event celebrated the multifaceted essence of womanhood by honoring women in all roles — as mothers, daughters, leaders, creators, and changemakers.

Renowned personalities including Rituparna Sengupta, Priyanka Sarkar, Santi Das Basak, Dr. Parnamita Bhattacharya, Zeba Akhtar Ali, and Naina More graced the occasion, which merged the significance of Mother’s Day and International Women’s Day into one heartfelt tribute.

The event’s highlight was the presentation of the Astitwa Honour to iconic film stars Rituparna Sengupta and Priyanka Sarkar for their outstanding contributions to cinema and society, recognizing their impact as role models and changemakers.

In a bid to empower and inform, “Astitwa: Ek Roop Kai Pehchaan” hosted three insightful sessions focused on Gynecology, Nutrition, and Dementia. Experts shared vital knowledge to help women better understand their health and well-being.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Moonmoon Chakraborty, CEO of Woman Times, said:

“The overwhelming response to ‘Astitwa’ is deeply heartening. This event belongs to the people, as it reflects their voices, stories, and aspirations. Health remains central to our mission, and this year we are especially focused on creating meaningful awareness around it. We hope this event inspires lasting change.”

Mrs. Mamta Binani, Advisory Board Member of Woman Times, added:

“This is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of identity and the indomitable spirit of womanhood. Every woman’s journey is unique, and this platform ensures that her voice is heard, her story honored, and her impact amplified.”

Ms. Poulami Chakraborty, Founding Editor of Woman Times, shared her vision by stating:

“Women embody a divine strength that transcends the ordinary. Whether as daughters, wives, mothers, or simply as individuals, they deserve unwavering respect. That respect must never be optional—it must be inherent.”

A major feature of the event was the felicitation of Team Puratawn, creators of a moving film on dementia. Their work was acknowledged for shedding light on this growing yet under-discussed geriatric challenge in India, using the power of cinema to spread awareness.

The event also extended financial sponsorship to three underprivileged women currently navigating difficult life circumstances. This initiative was supported by Mamta Binani, Naina More, and Sirshendu Niyogi, further underlining the event’s commitment to actionable impact and social upliftment.

“Astitwa: Ek Roop Kai Pehchaan” stood as a powerful testament to the strength, resilience, and irreplaceable role of women in shaping society — making it not just an event, but a movement for change.
