Roads clear before 6 am
Chandrapur : Ganaraya, who was sitting in every house with public Ganeshotsav, which has been going on with great devotion for the last 10 days, was bid farewell on Anant Chaturdashi. A total of 6756 Ganesha idols were immersed till the immersion day including 122 large idols. The ceremony was conducted by proper planning of Chandrapur City Municipal Corporation, Police Department, District Administration. In the meantime, the main roads of the city were cleaned by the municipality before dawn and the city was cleaned.
The many congregations participating in the immersion ceremony, the crowd in lakhs, the food stalls create a huge amount of waste in the city, especially the paper plates lying on the streets which blend into the road with the rush of people and literally have to be scraped off. Municipal sanitation workers do such a punctual cleaning job that the citizens leaving in the morning will not even know that there was so much garbage on this road during the night. This year too, all traffic routes were cleared before 6 am.
It was 8 am to immerse the last of the 122 large public Ganesha idols at the immersion site. In the meantime, it was lifted by a crane and disposed properly. As the disaster management team was deployed all the time and kept a large search light, fire and rescue vehicle, power boat, life jacket, life saving tubes etc. ready, no untoward incident took place anywhere. As 6 ghats were constructed for immersion on the bank of Eirai river, there was no crowd anywhere.
There was no problem in immersing the big idol in the riverbed as the arrangements for release of water from Erai Dam were made through the administration. Municipal officials and employees were fully present and ensured that the immersion ceremony was conducted in an orderly manner. The municipal administration expressed its gratitude to the public Ganesh Mandal, police administration, district administration and citizens for their cooperation in conducting the immersion ceremony successfully.
